IDOS World Cook-off 2010

Mark & I have been so excited for this cook-off! Last year at the world cook-off, we set a goal to win a cook-off so we could cook in this event. (We were helpers at it last year, and thought it would be so much fun to cook in it.)
We had so much fun preparing for this and just being there. We didn't really think that we had a chance of moving onto the final day of cooking...we where just so excited to be there!

We thought our dishes turned out good, they looked good, the bread was browned perfect, the pie was browned perfect also. And the roast was pulled at 140 degrees and it was smelling so good! But, our food we cooked is not what the judges where looking for this time. But, we felt good about what we had done. And that is all that really counts!
Here are some pictures of us there.
Self portrait, as if you couldn't tell...

Our cooking space, we had our Dutch Ovens all set out. They looked so good! We had people coming up and taking pictures of them and touching them! If there would have been a prize for the best looking pots...we would have won that one!
This is the banner that was hanging by us, it showed what we where cooking.
Our "Perfect Apple Pie"

Buttermilk dinner rolls, they turned out so light and fluffy.

Our "Rib-eye Roast, with Twice baked potatoes" The person that cut our meat said that the juices just flowed when she cut it, and it had been sitting there for almost an hour.
We were very pleased with how our dishes turned out.
Our good friends in the Dutch Oven world, won the cook-off this year. They are Brian & Lisa Blodget. Click on this link http://www.idos.org/ to see the most amazing dishes that people cooked. And you can see the winning dishes.
We felt it was just such an amazing thing to be a part of. Lots of good friends from the Dutch Oven world. We meet new friends and renewed friendships from the last time that we cooked with them. And hopefully we inspired a few people to want to come and cook with us this coming year. We are hoping to cook in lots of cook-offs this year. They are just fun. I think the reason they are so fun for us, is because we are doing it together as a couple. We are spending time together.

In a famine you guys are going to be the ones who know how to cook on fire. The rest of us are going to be standing around salivating for your rolls, roast and pie! You'll have to learn to say NO or we'll all die together! AAAHHHHH!
That looks wonderful. I was sad to hear you didn't win but Lane said you had a great time. It's fun to see the pictures of what you did and your finished products. YUM.
