Grandkids playing...May 2011

I get to have Grandkids at my house some Fridays...YAHOO for me!  They are so much fun!  Jeramiah found some silk flowers in the back yard and picked them for me.  How cute is that?  Love these little ones!

A DOG is a Dutch Oven Gathering with friends and family.  We love going to these to see our Dutch Oven friends.  We always meet someone new or renew friendships.  We go and cook food and then it gets put out to share with everyone.  Lots of good food, good friends...
That's me!  (Boy do I need to lose a few pounds, LOL)
This is the fun part, the little grandkids that come with Grandma...
Silly guys, showing off thier bellies!  Only guys would do that.  LOL

So lucky to go and watch the kids play sports.  I love it!  Jeramiah played flag football this year.  His Dad was giving him $1 for each flag he got at the games.

Mother's Day Weekend in Kanab - May 6 - 8, 2011 The hike...

April & Kacie had been talking with MaryAnn on Facebook and was telling her about their track meets, and would really like to run in a race with her.  MaryAnn was entered in a 10K race in Kanab for Mother's Day weekend.  And asked the girls if they wanted to run in it with her.  So, they asked me if I could take them.  We left on Friday after I went to the HQS (Home Quilting Show), I had already volunteered to work the show for a few hours in the morning.
Cora and Addie where working on jewlry when we got there, so April & Kacie sat down and started to make some with them.
Kacie & Jake.  Jake told me he was having a hard time telling Kacie & April apart.  I told him by the time we left, he would be able to tell them apart.  Jake is such a good kid.
Addie & April, Grandma (Cindy).  MaryAnn's kids were all so excited to have April & Kacie come and spend the weekend with them.  All of MaryAnn's kids slept on the floor, so their visiters could all have a bed to sleep in.  They are all good kids.
MaryAnn took us all on a hike to the overlook point of Kanab.  It was the first hike I have been on since I broke my leg.  Front:  Jake, Kacie & Addie ,  then MaryAnn, Cora and April.
Jake, Kacie & April on a rock.  Clay is the blue dot in the background.
My brave Grandchildren.  It looks like they are on a cliff, it is just the trail.
Mommy (MaryAnn) & Cora headed up the trail.
There is a squirrel out on the point of that rock.  Was glad the kids did not go out after it.
Jake & Clay.  I didn't go up anymore after this.  The trail was getting to steep for me.  I was afraid I wouldn;t be able to get down.  My leg still did not have all its power it needed.  So, MaryAnn took the camera to take more pictures for me.
Addie sortof took off on her own, while they were at the top.  She thought she was heading down the trail, but it was not the same one, she went up on.  MaryAnn called me on my cell to see if had seen her come down.  Then we started calling her name, I could see her pink pants.  And started calling for her.  Then I saw where she was at.  And had her sit down and not move.  It was a drop off.  I didn't think I could safely get her down.  Then her brothers came racing down the mountain to save their sister.  They each went around to find a path to get her down.  Then her mommy got there, and had her slide into her arms.
Clay, April, Grandma (Cindy), Kacie, Addie, Jake and Cora...on the trail.
The girls headed down...April, Cora and Addie.
Me (Grandma) sliding down this part.  It was a little steep for my leg.
Addie...can you believe that girl?  She never has to warm up, she just does things like this.  I always dreamed that I could things like this.

Brodie's play - Taming of the Shew. April 20, 2011

Brodie had a play at school, right after the track meet.  And I was able to attend that too.  Brodie had the lead part.  I was very impressed with the play.  The teacher just let the kids take care of the play and they all did a great job.
Brodie before the play.  The shield that he made it the green & yellow on at the top to the left.
Brodie dressed up for the play.

The Shew is tamed!  Great play.  All the kids did such a good job!

Track meet for April & Kacie, April 2011

April & Kacie have been on the track team for their school, this past year.  I was able to make it to one their track meets.  They have really enjoyed running.  (Wish I could do that too!)  It has been a wet, cold spring.  So, I had my coat on and a blanket.  They are in track clothes...I was freezing for them.
they are lining up for the race.  April, then Kacie is on the end.

Here they are from the front.  The look a little cold don't you think?
April & Kacie almost to the finish line.  Kacie came in 2nd and April 3rd.  It was fun to watch them.  Love these girls!

Jesse and DaNell cooked dinner for us, for their birthday.

Daddy (Jesse) and Jeramiah...relaxing after a good dinner.

Dutch Oven Spring Conference

Every year they have a Spring DO conference in Davis County.  This year April, Kacie & Brodie wanted to come with us.  This is another time when the DO friends get together and renew friendships.  And you cook lots of samples for the public to eat.  Someone compared it to a Costco sample day.  Only the food is much better, cuz it is cooked in the Dutch Oven.
We made Orange knots, that day...that is what the kids are doing.  Some are dipping in the sugar, some in the butter, and some are making the knots.  Cindy (Grandma), Brodie, April, Kacie
Everyone is busy cooking.  The girls are putting together the crust for the cheesecake.
Brodie got the fun job of stirring the carmel sauce.
The girls are making Apple Dumplings.  They have made this before, so they knew just how to do it.  Good cooks these kids are.
It was a fun day spent with the grandkids.  More memories made...Love my Grandkids will all my heart!

Kanab, April 2011

MaryAnn and Bryant had to take the bees to California for the Almond orchards.  And I got to go play with the kids for almost a week.  They are great kids and I loved every minute of it!  Everyday, Jake would go out to the property with me to feed and water the dogs and gather eggs from the chickens.  Only it was not fun to get the chickens back in, when they got out.  That was pretty funny when you think about it.  There Jake & I are running around trying to get chickens back in the coup.  We get a few in, and few different ones come out.  LOL
All the kids playing in the back yard.  Playing house.  It amazes me what they think up to play and how they figure out stuff to put it together.  Addie, Cora & Clay

More playing...  Jake & Cora
They have some wild turkeys that live in the area.  They were just across the street.  Could not resist just a couple pictures of them, struting their stuff.  MaryAnn says that sometimes they will be on your car.  Pretty friendly.

Pretty weird to take pictures of 2 bowls of candy???  Well, there is a story behind them.  It was conference weekend, and I really wanted to watch conference.  The kids had brought home some ideas from church to help little ones to watch conference better.  One of them was to give a treat when they heard a certain word.  So, we tried it.  It was amazing!  We picked Jesus Christ, Prophet & Holy Ghost for our words to listen to.  And they didn't miss a word.  I loved watching conference with the kids.  They were so good.  And when they heard one of the words, they very quitely repeated the word and got a piece of candy.  On Sunday for the afternoon session, the kids where playing in the front room and Cora accidently dumped the candy over.  We had to throw it out.  She felt so bad.  But, we all told her, we have had enough candy, it is ok.

We also made Spudnuts during the 1st session of conference.  Everyone helped, the boys where able to put the donuts in the hot oil to cook them, and everyone took turns dunking them in the glaze to frost them.  And even though they didn't think they would like them, cuz they had potatoes in them.  Everyone liked them.
More memories....Had lots of fun with the kids.  Can't wait for next year to do it again!  Love you guys!!
