Gathering firewood, Oct. 2010

When we got to the place that we were going to start cutting up the firewood, MaryAnn insisted that we take the kids to see Jacob's lake. Said they had been up here to cut firewood several times, but had never stopped to see the lake. So we headed off to see Jacob's Lake.

Cara and Clay. Then Addie found a straw...she is a silly girl!

We found where the lake was supposed to be, but the camp host said at this time of year, it was pretty much mud puddle. We stopped at the Jacob's Lake store and bought treats, and then we found a mud puddle and took a picture of it, for the lake to show their Mom. the kids got a kick out of that.

We get back and start working. Jake is in the back of the Bee truck stacking up the wood. Bryant is cutting up the logs. (Next time we go, we will take a chain saw with us, it will go much faster.) Helping them gather firewood, brought back so many fond memories of us and our kids gathering firewood. Fun memories!
Bryant, Mark and MaryAnn. The kids in the back of the truck stacking the wood up. Jake, Clay, Cora and Addie.
The last time they came, they got some tools stuck in the tree stump. I tried to get some out, then MaryAnn came to the recue. She even had a hard time. Bryant ended up bringing the chain saw over to get them out. They were buried deep.

Tree stump with all the bark around it. Then time for a much needed break. A picnic on the tailgate of the truck. Addie, Mommy and Cora

Bryant, Jake and Grandpa eating lunch. Addie, Clay, Cora and Mommy fixing lunches for everyone.

Clay gathering firewood around the area. I couldn't resit taking this picture of the tree bark. Isn't it beautiful?

Cora and Addie playing house on a tree stump. They found all kinds of things to play with. Love how kids use their imagination and just play where ever they are.
Bryant is sharpening the chainsaw, so he can cut more...

Bryant, Grandpa (Mark) and Jake.
MaryAnn loading more wood. (Yes she did lift those huge logs and put them in the back of the truck) and me watching. She would not even let me near the huge logs.

Clay taking a few minutes off to enjoy nature and shoot the sling shoot at the trees.
And yes that is me watching MaryAnn carry yet another log. It was like she was running to get in front of me. LOL

Look at the muscles on that girl! This is the bee truck loaded up, we also loaded up the 2 red trucks. What a fun day helping our kids. Can't wait for next year to go up and help them again.
